I'm currently a senior in college. Keep your head up man. There are a lot of posers out there but a lot of good people as well. Just keep in mind that those people who are jerks probably have a crappy homelike or some kind of personal issues and they unfortunately feel the need to take their aggression out on people. Take consolation in the fact that you are your own man and you can be better than those people. Look for people within your major (if you have one) who you can connect to and study with. I'm not sure what your major is, or if you even have declared one yet, but in the aviation field, a "study buddy" so to speak can turn into your best friend. Also, look for people with common interest (video games, sports, ideals, etc.) Just remember, for every douchebag there is a genuine good person out there.
Also, video games will destroy you. Moderate them as much as you can. Trust me, as a League of Legends player (No game takes up more time), I learned the hard way that staying up late and playing video games directly effected my GPA. (Plus, I'm getting married in 11 months so I will have to start toning down anyways.) Partying can be said in the same way. I'm not saying you should never do these two (because let's be honest, video games and drinking is fun), but I've seen many people fail college and drop out because partying or video games consumed their lives.
Also, get into the habit of studying now. Don't have the mind set "I will wait until my junior/senior years to really buckle down," because once you have adopted a certain lifestyle/habit you will discover that it's hard to break it. You don't have to overdue it (some people study for a test for 8 hours...why?), but put forth the effort and the fruits of your labors will be rewarded.
Most importantly, passing or failing a class can all come down to attitude. I know, we all have to take some GNEDs that we all absolutely dread, but if you approach it with a good attitude, you are more likely to do well in the class. Having a bad attitude will set the tone for bad habits (not paying attention in class, missing quizzes, not doing homework, etc.) Also, do all your work. It's not that hard to finish an assignment for some credit. Even if you score badly on most assignments, you will probably pass the class if you have completed EVERY assignment. (Some credit is better than none) Don't be afraid to ask your GA's or Professors for help. That's what they are there for.
Anyways, enough of my rambling. Keep your head up, and best of luck to you!

Pour some cow blood on them and shout a bunch of random symbols. Then tell them you put a curse on them, they'll know you aren't [jibber]ing around then.
