Who's your favorite sci-fi guru? Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Serenity, Dollhouse, Age of Ultron) or JJ Abrams ( Armageddon, Lost, Star Trek, Into Darkness, Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, Mission Impossible III, Super 8)?

While I enjoy JJ Abrams work, Joss Whedons work has not only been enjoyable but also helps me in writing stuff myself.

I have seen and enjoyed a lot more of JJ's stuff compared to Joss' stuff. So yeah, IMMA GO WITH MA BOI JJ!

Outside of The Avengers and Toy Story there isn't a whole lot I've enjoyed or seen from Joss. I've got to give it JJ, especially with the Star Trek films in his pocket.

JJ gets my vote.
Joss Whedon's filmography is... meh.

If I saw more of Joss's work I'm sure it could change and become a harder decision, I've just simply lack the precedence to side with him.
